The Spengler Residence is a new residence on a 3/4 Denver lot in the Washington Park neighborhood. The lot, 37.5’ x 125’ long, had an existing bungalow, however the previous house was built on the north side of the lot. Current Zoning set back and bulk plane requirements restricted the size of a second floor “pop-top” addition.

The owners opted for a new build and moved into the neighboring house to the north during demolition and construction.

The husband, Thomas, desired a modern farmhouse style for the exterior of the house with an asymmetrical front façade, while his wife, Niley, wanted a large community kitchen that would flow into the living area on the first floor and out to the backyard.
