Police & Thieves Dispensary

CANNABIS & RETAIL

COMPLETED: 2023
LOCATION: Denver, CO
CONSTRUCTION COST: $Confidential
PROJECT AREA: 5,000 SF

Work is about to begin at the first of two dispensary renovations for Police & Thieves cannabis stores. With two locations in the metro Denver area, one at Colfax and Leyden in east Denver and the other in Cherry Creek at South Harrison and Dakota Streets, Police & Thieves is a boutique woman and minority-owned dispensary started “in response to the political and social blanching of marijuana by an industry that has stripped the plant of its power,” and aims to “give prominence to previously neglected qualities of marijuana (such as the entourage effect) in order to cultivate a customizable experience.”

The renovation projects will help Police + Thieves update their retail spaces to reflect new branding as designed by SpaceExploration and modernize the facilities’ operating systems. This includes code updates to mechanical systems and changes in the interior flow and lobby areas for additional security and to meet new City of Denver cannabis safe storage requirements. New lighting, millwork and displays are also part of the project. The design creates a unique “besmoke” atmosphere the owners are using to differentiate themselves.

A women and minority-owned dispensary, “Police & Thieves holds in respect sophistication and aesthetics,” according to its website. The company also actively supports several community organizations such as Denver Youth Pro Skills Basketball Program and The Last Prisoner Project. Renovations at the East Colfax location are scheduled for completion next month (the store remains open during renovations).
