2801 Welton

COMMERCIAL, ADAPTIVE REUSE,

HISTORIC PRESERVATION

COMPLETED: 2016
LOCATION: Denver, CO
CONSTRUCTION COST: Withheld at Owner’s Request
PROJECT AREA: 5,000 SF

In 1895 a two story building began its life at 2801 Welton Street.

In its 120 plus year history, 2801 Welton Street has seen a hotel, Soul Food, Chinese Food, a jazz club, local watering hole and the American Legion. Over the years of service to the 5-Points community in Denver, the building gave a little of itself to each of the occupants.

In 2014 it was time for a good cleaning and make over. This old structure has been lovingly renovated to its original glory in 1895, with the return of the historic window locations, wood storefront, renovated wood details and exposed brick.

An additional surprise happened during the renovation with the discovery of an old Mural for Yuye Café and Coca-Cola from the 1940’s. This historic renovation will be the home to a new restaurant on the first floor and office space on the second floor. Star Mesa Development has returned a piece of history back to the neighborhood.
